Phew! It was a tiring holiday.

The whole family, kids n grandparents included, and close family frens decided to take a cruise. So off we went on Superstar Libra for a 4D3N cruise Pg-Phuket-Krabi-Pg.

Indeed it was quite nice, minus the kids...but if kids included....its just not suitable. Well, technically not suitable for kids below 5, I'd say. Otherwise it'd be a perfect holiday. To make things worse, AIR1 just has to be at his 'best' at throwing tantrums in the morning daily. Until the staff there has recognized him. And then AIR2 wasn't too well with a stuffed nose and poor lil' girl was not comfy at times.

However, the trip also turned out to be a real workout for hub n I. We went to Patong Beach in Phuket and went to the Patong Ceylon Mall (can't really remember what exactly it was called). Almost 80% of the time, AIR1 wanted to be carried. And so he stuck to me like a semi-permanent attachment ;p Even slept on me throughout our 1.5-2km walk from the complex to the jetty. And AIR2 stuck to hub...and together we had out weight workout. ;p Thank goodness my knees are still intact and not sore...and hopefuly ready for PBIM this sunday.

But anyways, so what's so special on 16Nov 2011?

Got back to good ol' Pg and shortly after all the chaotic disembarkment etc etc and reached home, I got a call from a strange number. Thinking it was from True Fitness who was for the umpteenth time trying to give me a 2-week free pass and remind me to go collect it as it was almost 2 weeks since my appointment. I answered and there was this Chinese sounding guy trying his best to speak broken malay to me. I was almost annoyed, but when he told me he was calling from Dumex Mamil, I listened a bit more. At the back of my mind I thought he was trying to get me to update my info on their database or something of that sort.

Then he mentioned something which caught me instantly...which I didn't pay attention initially. He asked if I joined the contest, but I heard if I had joined the Mamil Club ...hahaha then by then I spoke English to him and I guess he was relieved. He proceeded to congratulate me. And said I've won. I expected him to say I won RM500 for AIR2 (cos I put her name there) and RM500 was the consolation prize, but he said congratulations, you won RM5,000.!!! I was like 'WHAT? Oh, ok...' pretending to be cool. And now, he is talking!!

So info n procedures were mentioned. Thank God I answered the call. Now I wonder if he had tried many times to call me earlier but failed.

And when I looked at the contest details again, I was surprised...RM5,000 is actually the 1st prize for the weekly winner!!

Woweeee! 1st time ever winning a first prize in contest of this sort....(Fear Factor doesn't count, ok.) ;p

Now can't wait to get the bank acc set up for AIR2! Yipee!! (aptly said and pun intended! - am supposed to open a Yipee savings account thru Maybank) hahahaha ;p

Now time to go zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!

Ok overdo lah this one. Working mum of two, avid outdoor person involved in triathlon and any one of the three disciplines and still trying to find ways to be a better mum. Engineer by day, mum, housewife and wife by night and hopefully in the new year, sportsperson on weekends ;p

Started blogging about my first pregnancy. Easiest way to vent all the frustrations, stress and all those negative feelings when it happens on the blog. Making new cyber pals was one thing I didn’t expect, but it came as a good surprise, when I found few people who share a whole lot of similarities with me. Exchanging ideas and points of views was another plus point. And so I’ve stuck to blogging. How I wish my blogs have more than info bout myself, but more insight and indepth information. I will work on that.

3f's First Contest!

Free Books? I thought that was really generous of you. It caught my attention.

And from then on I was stuck.

In the first place, I don't remember how I chanced upon your blog, but it was definitely during one of those days when I had extra time and was blog-hopping. The 'Maysaa scarf' caught my attention and prompted my first connection with 3f's. Then I kinda kept it easy...not really 'visiting' you constantly, though I already started to 'follow'.

And from 'Free Books', I kinda stuck. I noticed we have similar taste in our reading. And I like your stuff about crafting. The post itself had nothing much, but just a photo of what was available. This short post, well worded to its intention portrayed the person behind it.

And subsequently I guess the person I imagined to be did reveal (eh, not trying to bodek, ok) when there was a problem with the shipment of our stuff and you sorted it out first without alarming us, until it was all over and done with. Can't thank you enough :) Back to the main topic, I somehow felt 'connected' via the books. I dunno why. Weird it may seem to some.

I suppose that post led form one thing to another and now I've also got myself a crafting-buddy (though I only intend to do simple stuff for my baby).

Hmmm seems like its been a while I've not joined any contest. Getting lazy, I guess :)

Not a very clear photo of the lil' fella but this photo was one of the rare days when he was wearing his PJs. Why? Cos he wasn't feeling well. This PJ was given by his grandma months ago, maybe even almost a year, but then it's long sleeves with long pants, so we rarely let him wear. He's a 'hot' boy. haha

He was still cranky (not feeling well), so when I gave him his water in the bottle, he just wanted to hold it. Took a sip and decided to clutch it and few minutes later, he eventually fell asleep holding it, all the way, from Damansara to Cheras! :)

Notice the black with grey border cloth? That's his must-have before sleeping. His blankie!

Now I wish I was curled up comfy in that seat instead of being stuck in the jam!!

Merdeka Belly Contest

It's a really catchy title kan? Even when I first read at the organizer's post, I thought it was really cute...

So I decided to join. :D

First, cos I have a cute photo of my belly (heheh perasan cute la, kan) and second I thought of just sharing my feelings then...

Let's see...its my first pregnancy, so naturally, all excited and memang excited la. Every single change to me, my tummy or whatever, I'll be so excited. The tummy grew really slowly...not like what I expected, i.e. to suddenly 'pooof' but up till almost 4 months, I was just merely looking like I ate too much or lack of exercise. By this time (in the photo), I was about 6 months+, and could still fit into my low waist jeans. I was so happy!! kekeke

At almost 4 months, I kept bugging my ObGyn at every visit, wanting to know if it was a boy or girl...couldn't tell until I was almost 20 weeks. I was not hoping for any specific gender, since it will be my first child. It doesn't matter.

At that point of time all I could think of was 'oh I'm gonna be a mummy'...how ah? I keep asking myself how will I fare as a mum, would I know what to do and how to act when needed? then came thoughts of labour...how was it like? how would it be? Could I go through it? I wanted a natural birth.

Memang alot of things were running through my mind constantly...then came names...then came the preparation...

The fact that I had a morning-sickness-free pregnancy made me a very happy person! kekeke I just ate and ate and ate....and just waited for the baby to move, kick, turn, box, tumble and kungfu inside me...and after 39 weeks of waiting, he kungfu-ed his way out, after I watched a kung-fu-based movie...:)

I can't wait to have my 2nd baby....when the time is right.

MomBloggersPlanet Cutest Baby with TOYS Contest

ToyS!! Yippee!! Children love toys...and so does babies and toddlers!

I guess AIR doesn’t really have a favourite toy at the moment. Anything he can grab and get hold of, would be his toy there and then, and his next step would be to stuff this toy of his into his mouth.

However, that being said, I noticed that he has his ye ol’ faithful – the seahorse rattle, the all-time-fav-but-always-not-allowed – the ASTRO remote control and the ultimate-too-huge-for-him – Big Book of ABCs.
The seahorse rattle – he had this since he learnt how to grip and hold and stuff things into his mouth, circa 2 months plus. This is his first rattle, and in my attempt to give him other types of rattle (he has a box which had almost 10 varieties of rattles as his gift) to use up all in the box, he still loves this. Perhaps it’s the sound, its multiple rings and just-nice shape which got him stuck to this. He ‘kisses’ seahorse on his ‘snout’ and stuffs it into his mouth very often, while alternating between munching on the rings and the ‘fin’. This toy introduces various shapes and textures embossed on it to him.

His all-time-fav-but-not-allowed toy is the ASTRO remote control. Give him any other toy next to this one (the seahorse included) and the remote control wins hands down EVERYTIME. Give him a different remote control, he will not even take a second glimpse. He is glued to this because of the multi-coloured buttons within the remote and perhaps also the size of these buttons. I’ve tried giving him another remote control with some colour, but smaller buttons, and he just couldn’t be bothered. The fact that this is a remote control, we rarely let him play with it. The moment he sets eyes on it, it’s tough to get it away from him. We were tempted to buy him a ‘pirated’ one from the pasar malam, but at RM15, we decided it could be better spent on better toys/things for him. Stingy ei…hehe…No lar..cos if we buy and let him play a dummy remote control, later on, he may just think all remote controls are his toys. Not a good move.

Then the ultimate-too-huge-for-him ABC book. He loves the pictures and when it was first introduced to him, he will coo and make sounds when you read to him. There’s 5 in a pack, but for now, only 2 are relevant and easy for him to look at the pictures. I discovered his liking and attraction to large colourful pictures when I was breastfeeding him in the BabyRoom where a poster with some daily items was on the wall and he kept looking at it. After feeding, I took him nearer and he loved it. Trying to interact and wanting to touch all the items there.

Toys are an important means for the development of the babies and early childhood learning. Grasping, feeling the different textures, response to different sounds or noise, feeling and learning about different shapes and sizes aids in the development of children. Toys do not have to be expensive for it to be useful or good for the child/baby. As long as the toys are able to promote those that have been mentioned above, it is good enough for them.

All of his toys at home or at the baby sitter’s promote these different reflexes and learning abilities. Softbooks/clothbooks are also good for him. Unfortunately, AIR prefers his larger than him book as it is more colourful (and realistic, perhaps…hehe) and has more pictures compared to his clothbook.

In a nutshell, all toys for babies development have one thing in common, they 'stimulate' the senses in babies in order to promote learning. Be it visual, feel or sound, they have that ultimate goal.

Toys for children/toddlers are in fact no different, except that they can come in different sizes. They encourage thinking more. Building blocks, puzzles and role-play items encourage children to imitate characters and it the process they learn. Thinking used in puzzle solving or buiding of any item encourages them to explore and if they face difficulty and can come to a simple solution, it speaks alot of their ability.

So, get some good toys for children/babies/toddlers and may their world of learning and exploration come through....

I was waiting for this July contest and finally, it's about Baby in Car Seat...Wow, ok...interesting..

So let's see, I was excited, but then upon reading this, I just didn't have time at all, so it's taken me almost 10 days later to be able to post this up.

Baby car seats are really useful. AIR's was a gift from all his grand-aunts/uncles which came together with the stroller. Though the colour wasn't that attractive (it was olive green) but it was its functions which were handy. Anyway, this car seat is really essential to my hubby and I cos we send AIR to and fro to the nursery singlehandedly...so how to drive if no car seat?

At 5 weeks old

Its so essential that we even use it when we shop at the hypermart (hypermart trollies do not have baby carriers except for a few units and they're not suitable for really young babies). We just place the car seat on the trolley handle and the extendable seat for kids (unfortunately I don't have a photo, I must remember to take one before the 15th July!! :D

Comfy as it can be (5 months 1 week old)

And it must be really snug and comfy in there (despite sometimes it may be warm cos of the material) cos everytime AIR snoozes off, we'll just carry the whole seat back into the house, without disrupting his sleep. It also doubles up as a rocker and a seat for AIR when we go for meals. Just place the seat on the table or any chair and we are able to entertain him by rocking him.

OK, so why did I start to blog? I've always wanted too, erm since 2 yrs back, but I just didn't have the luxury of time. Then, while work was abit slow in the office and I was most of the time sitting in front of the PC (reduced site work already by then) and happily waiting for AIR to make his presence, I decided to blog. The anxiety of the last 4 weeks was taking its effect on me. I was excited but yet nervous, so I decided to channel it into writing. So then, I was stuck. After my maternity leave, I was in the office again most of the time, thanks to the econonic slowdown...work at site was slow and most of those which I were handling were completed.

So to kill time, I blogged again...:) and that's how it was, is and will be....(erm, I mean the bloggin, not the killing time)...kekeke

Daddy's Dearest....

Finally I remembered to download that photo I wanted...

My Daddy's in Penang...so unlike those times when I get to go back at my whim and fancy, this time, it'll have to be just a card and a phone call and perhaps a belated celebration later...unfortunately...otherwise it'll be great to have a Daddy-cum-grandDaddy celebration, ain't it? :)

And for the Daddy of my lil' boy....we'll probably have a something small and nothing grand...there's something cooking in th pot...:P

This candid shot was taken over the weekend (last week). I love this shot cos it portrays how AIR is thrilled (yes, he was squealing the whole time) and enjoying his moments with Daddy playing with him. Everytime Mummy tries doing the same thing, I don't get that delighted squeal from him, only a smile or at best a mild laugh...(so everytime Daddy does that, Mummy will look on with a slight tinge of jealousy)....what to do - sometimes it's just a Daddy-Son-thing, I guess...:)

I was so excited when I saw that Mom Blogger's Planet was having another contest...this time Cutest Baby Photo contest. Each month there will be a theme and this month it happens to be CUtest Baby in Red...and boy oh boy, I was thinking to myself - 'where on earth am I going to get a photo of AIR in RED?' He only has 1 (yes, you read correctly, ONE) red outfit...this red-stripped romper/body suit. Since Mummy does most of his clothes shopping and mummy not a fan of red, so only 1 so far...hehehe

So, which mum won't think that their pride and joy is the Cutest on the planet, kan? Well, for me AIR (that's the acronym for his name), whether he's in red or not, dressed or not, he's always game for a photo. When this photo was taken, he just woke up from sleep at a wedding reception. He's deemed by all of our friends as the best-behaved - that night (when the photo was taken) though he didn't nap earlier and was really, really sleepy, he didn't even cry, throw tantrum or make a fuss...all he did - lie in Daddy's arms and after his feed, he was lost in dreamland...I think this make him really cute...cos the moment we left the reception, and into the car, he started to make a little fuss.. This 18-week-old muchkin can 'control macho' pulak, kan?
