PCK The Movie

After many moons not going to the cinema, I've decided to go catch at least a movie before I get back to work. And the silly me only had this 'urge' of wanting to watch a movie during the last week of my leave. Oh well, otherwise I could've watched more movies free! :)

So to the press preview of PCK The Movie, I went, yesterday. With no other willing partner (hub not a fan of PCK), I went alone to GSC Pavillion. Hah, also my first time at this cinema. So jakun. hehe

Should be screening next week, and if you want to watch end, then read no more. Otherwise I'll just be revealing some parts of it.

Filmed in Malaysia, it captures PCK's childhood and how/why his grandpa says he is a 'sooi kia' (in Hokkien, means a child who brings bad luck) and then he never saw his grandpa again, being told he was already dead, but in fact not. His search for his missing Ma, who upon arrival in KL got 'lost', landed him a renovation job in an old folks home, and having to share this job with his life-long rival, Frankie Foo.

Twists and turns in the story reveals that the boss behind this home is a crook and how it was found out, also revealing that PCK's grandpa is not dead and is actually living in that home. And all this while, his Ma is in the home, staying/visiting his grandpa.

And after a short 'reconciliation' with his grandpa, the short-lived happiness had to end.

Funny in the PCK ways, but touching at the same time, especially the end. Though one or two parts were a bit too long-winded.

For a stingy person like me, to pay RM12 or 13 per person to watch, not too worth it. But since I went for free, no complaints! :) Catch it if you're a PCK fan!

What? How much again??

It's been ages since I actually paid to watch a movie.
When I was pregnant with AIR, hubby had a cinema press pass, which was valid for all movies at that particular cinema and it was free. So at that poin of time, since I was 'grounded' from all sports/streneous activities, all I (we) did was watch movie. No training, no racing and it was movie watching. Until it came to a point where we ran out of movies to watch.
Those were the days. Up till recently, when after 2 renewal cycles, we didn't have that privilege anymore. Not that we got to watch that often also already, with AIR around.
So planning for a movie outing, I just browsed GSC's website and was so surpised to find out that it now costs RM14 to watch a movie!! Boy oh boy, how much ticket prices have increased! The last I think I actually paid for a movie, a regular ticket was perhaps RM10 or was it RM11 at the most. And now it is RM14
And I thought movies before 6pm on weekdays were valid for all, and not just senior citizens and students...hmmmm *digging and checking to see if my student pass is still around.....or valid ;p*
Alamak! So ketinggalan zaman!! *shy*

Alvin, Simon & Theodore

They were my favourite when I was young. I'll never miss any episode. I used to record every episode, back then it was via the VCR. Hmmm, come to think of it, I may even still have copies of it stored back home in Penang. The now unused VCR is also somewhere in the store...I wonder if it is still function-able?

Anyways, now this is the sequel we're talking about...the movie!

All set and planned for Alvin & the chipmunks 2 at 9.20pm on Christmas eve. Reached the cinema at about 9.15pm and while hub was queuing for snacks and as he took out the tickets from his pocket (bought the day before), we realized it said ’11.20pm’!! Oh No! how could this be? He happily thought he got the 9.20pm tickets yesterday without realizing the attendant at the counter issued the wrong one. So what did we do?

We decided to walk around and waste 2 hours…when 5 minutes into it, we thought we’d try to watch another movie. Then suddenly I suggested why don’t we try and see if we can get the tickets for the already showing 9.20pm show? And so we managed….hahaha finally. Otherwise poor mum will have to wait a little longer for us to get back home. This sequel is better than the first – more entertaining!

And then I digress....

But I noticed, it’s really weird. It’s already showtime, so by then , if reserved tickets were not taken, it would have been released. And so on the ticketing screen, it would appear not taken. But when we were trying to change out tickets, it seemed like the cinema was full to the brim, but in actual fact, when we went in, it wasn’t. There were so many empty seats in front of us, the same row as ours, but on the ticketing screen, it appeared as though our 2 seats were only available in that particular ‘zone’.

Also, prior to that, I tested out the new TGV e-ticketing system. It was really strange also. There was a ‘pay later’ option and another option to pay via credit card. So, since I was just trying it out, I choose the ‘pay later’ option, where I will pay when collecting the tickets only. (essentially this was identical to the one used by Cathay Cineplexes which I used to book couple of years ago) However, this time, it was really strange. ‘Pay later’ customers have seats on a different ‘block’ while ‘paid’ customers have seats on another block. ‘Paid’ customers have seats further from the screen while the former is nearer to the screen. The ‘strange’ thing I was trying to highlight was that when it came to choosing my seats, and confirming, the block which I was assigned to is already full but yet they kept asking me to choose my seat. HOW?? My assigned seats were not even shown? Now,

1. I tried to click on empty seats on a different ‘block’ but I wasn’t allowed.
2. I clicked on ‘next’ to proceed to getting my reservation number, but wasn’t allowed. I was told to choose my seats.
3. Now, how silly can this get?
4. I proceeded to ‘change selection/showtime’ then only it was ok. Funny.

Shouldn’t it naturally just say that the reservation is full and ask customers to choose different time slots/ shows?

Anyway, go watch this!! It's really entertaining!

Jom! Let's go to the Movies!

Taking a break from what I’ve been doing….

Last night, I had so much fun. From being greeted by my 9.5month-old-son-with –party-hat (yet to take picture)to finally being able to watch a movie, with the presence of my son.

What bliss!

I went to the nursery and when the door opened, he was sitting down with that pointy-top-party-hat on, looking as mischievous as ever. Oh boy, I could just hug him and not let go! Unfortunately, he couldn’t put the hat on all the way home, cos his bucket-like-car seat can’t accommodate. (I’ve yet to change him to the vertical one cos its so much more comfy sleeping in this and convenient for us if he so happens falls asleep if we’re going anywhere)

And then we were going to try and take him to the movie. When we were having dinner, he was asleep. Then, as we were finishing and leaving, he awakens. And then I thought it maybe more difficult now. We’re prepared to leave if he makes noise (tickets free wat) :) and so we went in. slightly late, so the show started.

He was still drowsy, so we kept him in his car seat and on the seat next to me. After a while, he got didn’t want his milk anymore and it was really cold inside so we had his blankie round him. He looked really comfy n cuddly. Keke

Although his eyes were sleepy already, he refused to doze off (it’s the same problem in the day). And after many eye-rubbing, head-scratching sessions, his eyes were almost closed. I peered at him and he starred back at me wide-eyed. Aiyo!

Thank God, after staring at the screen and 30mins into the movie, he finally dozed off, snoring and ignorant to all the laughter and noise around him. I was so happy. Movie – sans action so music wasn’t too loud or sudden for his sensitive ears.

It was an achievement. Now, I can plan for more movies, can’t I?

A week of sorts...

Hmmm after 1 entry, I realised I miss blogging. Hehe I used to blog daily, now its limited. Work has piled on and I'm getting really busy, at home and in the office. So I guess, finding time to blog also quite difficult :) not to mention time to train...

It (training) has been soooo inconsistent. Everytime I start, I'll stop for about 2-3 days. It's either logistic problems or the weather not permitting. Aiya, how to improve. And this Sunday is supposed to be the Olympic Day Run, which I'm not even prepared. And I dun know if Im able to make it cos I've gotta send mum to catch her bus. Hmmm....we'll see how la.

Hopefully will be able to run this evening and tomoro morning. Oh, I guess I forgot to mention that last weekend, I took AIR on his stroller to buy breakfast for everyone at home. And the whole trip was 4km!! I guess I took the stroller for the longest ever journey on tar. Pushing it uphill was no joke! Yup, up the hill to the guardhouse and up the hill again to my tower. It did work up lots of sweat. Was tempted to go for another round, but I guess I wasn't fueled properly and was not up to it. Let's see what happens tomorrow. PLanning DimSum breakkie after that.

Ice Age 3 is in the plan but dunno when. I'm actually excited to see how AIR would react in the cinema...:) hope he doesn't embarass us!! :D

Warehouse sales

About 2 weeks ago, my aunt told me that there was a warehouse sale for baby stuff. So since I wasn't able to get full info on it, and I didn't know which newspaper to look for, I decided to search for it online. And walaaa....guess what I found? A website dedicated to warehouse sales in Klang Valley and all sorts of other discounts or sales...goodness....http://everyday.com.my/ seriously, I was shocked!

I found the warehouse sale my aunt mentioned, but it wasn't what I was looking for, so I didn't go. I went to another, also featured on that page, but I already knew of it from the papers. Anyway, so that got me sort of hooked. Every end-of-the-week, I'll just check out that page. And so last Friday, I found a Crocs' Clearance Sale in Sri Damansara (aiya around tat area la). Well, sale started on Friday, so if i went on Saturday, naturally most would be gone. But since we didn't have much planned for the day, we headed there anyway. As expected, the sandals of my size were gone, largest were of size 4....then shoes, found a unisex kind of pair, but was slightly too big, bought it anyway, for Dad...hehehe so if Dad refuses it, I'll just wear it with a pair of thick socks. Hehehe well, after my 1st pair of Crocs, I find it to be unbelieveably comfortable, especially at time when I really need the cushioning from too much window-shopping with extra weight. :D

Bought some really cheap baby stuff there too, well, just 1 or 2 toys, not many varieties of Fisher-Price toys there, but they were really cheap.

Then we were off to the movies again! hehehehe this time, really dunno what to watch anymore, we ended up watching 'Cicakman 2'. Can u believe that? Anyway, there were some unrealistic portions, erm, not so nice parts, but ok la...few doze-off-sessions to add...:) But since it was free, I think it's ok la.

Then, for some reason or other, after that, we actually headed to Ikano/Cineleisure to continue. hehehe in total, we walked for about almost 5 hours, minus the movie and the makan etc... Goodness can u imagine?

Well, my left back-of-my-knee pain is still there, and today it's slightly better. I think I need to rub it on and off. But its really weird la. I just hope it goes off as sudden as it appeared la. Cos in the morning, sometimes that nerve/tendon/muscle really hurts esp when I take the first step out of bed. Have to limp.

Transporter 3

It is one cinematic experience I'll not forget - know why? Not because the cinema was superb, or the show was the best, but I was shocked that less than halfway through the show, I was perspiring. Well, that NEVER happened to me, throughout my whole preggy experience yet, but the fact that hubby wasn't even feeling the slightest bit cold tells me that it wasn't my thermostat gone wrong - but the cinema's.

Anyways, luckily the show and complimentary popcorn was distraction enough to make me sometimes forget about the trickling sweat...yes, it WAS that BAD....

We watched Transporter3, premier show before the release of the show today. Good action movie, but there were some unrealistic scenes and parts where the continuity of the scenes were not there. Go check the movie out and see if can spot them.

After that, Sup Ekor was waiting for us at home. Yummy....this time, really yummy (forgot about the pics) but then there were portions were meat was still relatively tough. Think it's either old ekor or it didn't spend enough time in the pot...
